Our first visit to Arizona Ale House on a quiet Tuesday night was full of pleasant surprises.
On entering, we found that we were glassed in at the entrance. This was because the bar is walled/glassed in from the rest of the place, allowing them to have a smoking section in with the bar while maintaining a smoke-free environment for the perimeter booths.
The menu has a list of twenty or so beers on tap (though several were unavailable at the time) and even more in bottles. We had an Oak Creek Honey Brown and an iced tea.
Our meals, a bacon cheeseburger and a prime rib sandwich, were served quickly and were prepared to order. We expected the sandwich to have shaved beef, but were pleased to find it was a carved slab that had been grilled to get a nice flavor. The cheeseburger was also high-quality meat with plenty of bacon lurking under the melted cheese.
The menu had a lot of burger and sandwich choices, as well as some entrees and salads. Of course there are also plenty of appetizer choices, as is de rigeur for such an establishment. The menu isn't as large as similar places that are built around a bar, but I'd rather go somewhere where they menu is smaller and the items prepared well.
Service was fast and friendly and the environment clean and spacious.
At about $21, the tab wasn't hard to take either. The Arizona Ale House is worth a stop.
